The main oil pump for the oil supply of the engine is designed as an external gear pump. It draws the oil (on the suction side) to a suction line and then discharges it on the delivery side.
The control valve is integrated in the oil pump. It is driven by the main oil pressure of the engine. Overpressure protection is provided by a safety valve. The motor of the oil pump is driven by the crankshaft wheel with the help of an intermediate wheel.
